How to Pull Up Audit Logs for Receipts and Bills in QuickBooks Desktop

Below are the steps to review audit logs related to receipts and bills.

Steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop

  2. Go to Reports

  3. Select Accountant & Taxes

  4. Choose Audit Trail

This report will show:

  • Created bills

  • Edited bills

  • Deleted/voided bills

  • User who made the changes

  • Date/time of change

  • Original values vs. changed values


Filter the Audit Trail to ONLY Show Bills

To narrow it down:

  1. When the Audit Trail report opens, click Customize Report

  2. Go to the Filters tab

  3. Add these filters:

Filter 1: Transaction Type

  • Transaction Type β†’ Bill

Filter 2 (Optional): Date Range

  • Filter by specific dates where changes occurred.

Filter 3 (Optional): Vendor

  • Filter by vendor if you're only reviewing certain bills.
