Overrides on Opportunity Estimates

Available now for all CRM+ tenants (rolling out August 20, 2026). No setup needed.

What's new

Estimates on Opportunities now support manual overrides, using the same pattern you already know from Quotes. You can turn overrides on or off directly on an Estimate, and while they're active, you can type straight into each section Total, the Estimate Subtotal, and the Estimate Taxable Subtotal.

How it works

  • Turn on overrides from the menu next to the Labor and Material Pricebook selectors on any Estimate, then confirm Enable Override.

  • Once enabled, you can type directly into any section Total, the Subtotal, and the Taxable Subtotal.

  • A section Total keeps recalculating from its line items until you override it — once you do, it's frozen and won't move again from further line item edits.

  • Costs keep calculating in the background the whole time, so your Profitability Summary stays accurate even while prices are overridden.

  • Converting a Quote that has overrides on will carry those overrides — and your numbers — straight over to the resulting Estimate.

Where It Lives in the App

  • The override toggle: Opportunity → Estimate (Create / Edit Estimate) → overflow (⋮) menu immediately right of the Labor Pricebook and Material Pricebook selectors → Enable Override.

    Enable Override toggle

    Enable Overrides confirmation modal

  • The overridable amounts: The amount field on each section header, plus Subtotal and Taxable Subtotal in the totals block alongside Tax Rate and Tax Amount.

  • The warning banner: At the top of the Estimate, directly beneath the Create / Edit Estimate header.

Notes

  • Overridden totals don't stay in sync. Once you override a section Total, adding or removing line items in that section won't update the number — you'll need to update it yourself.

  • Overrides aren't validated. Nothing checks the math on an overridden total against the line items underneath it, so it's on you to make sure it's accurate.

  • Turning overrides off is a full reset, not an undo. Confirming "Disable Overrides" clears every manual value on the Estimate and recalculates everything from scratch. There's no way to recover your manual numbers afterward.

  • Overrides are set per Estimate. There's no account-wide setting to turn them on everywhere, and no bulk action to enable or disable across multiple records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I overrode a section total and then added more materials — why didn't it change?

A: That's expected. Once a section Total is overridden, it's frozen and stops recalculating from line items. Costs still update behind the scenes, but the price stays put until you edit it or turn overrides off.

Q: What happens if I turn overrides off?

A: You'll see a confirmation first. Once you confirm, every section and Estimate-level subtotal recalculates and all manual values are cleared. This can't be undone, so you'll need to re-enter any manual numbers if you turn overrides back on later.

Q: My Quote had overrides on — what happens when I convert it to an Opportunity?

A: You'll land on an Estimate with overrides already enabled and all your overridden values carried over, along with a note that the totals may not match the line items underneath.
