Fixing the “This Content is Blocked” Error on PDF Previews
When previewing a document embedded within BuildOps — such as Invoice Preview — you may see this error:
⚠️ This is separate from PDFs (such as Quotes and Purchase Orders) downloading directly to your Downloads folder when generated — that is expected behavior and requires no browser change.
“This content is blocked. Contact the site owner to fix the issue.”
Why this happens
This error occurs when Chrome is set to download PDFs instead of displaying them inline. BuildOps embeds PDF previews directly in the browser for certain documents — like Invoice Preview. When Chrome is configured to download rather than preview PDFs, those embedded previews cannot load and appear as blocked content. This is a browser setting, not a BuildOps account issue.
This is a browser behavior, not an issue with the invoice or your BuildOps account.
How to fix it in Google Chrome
Paste the link on your browser: chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments. Make sure that the Open PDFs in Chrome is enabled.
OR
Open Google Chrome
Go to Settings
Click Privacy and security
Select Site Settings
Scroll down and open Additional content settings
Click PDF documents
Select "Open PDFs" in Chrome.
Once this is selected, PDFs will open directly in the browser and the invoice preview should display correctly in BuildOps. This only affects embedded previews within BuildOps. PDFs generated as downloadable files — such as Quotes and Purchase Orders — will continue to download directly to your Downloads folder as expected.
