You can change the valuation method for one or more inventory items directly from the Items List using Bulk Actions.
Before You Begin
Make sure the items you want to update have zero quantity on hand.
If any item still has stock, the system will block the update.
You can check stock levels using the Inventory Valuation report in Dashboard.
When updating multiple items at once, the change applies to all or none — if any selected item has stock on hand, the entire batch will be blocked. Update items individually or clear stock on all selected items first.
This feature is not available if you have an active inventory accounting integration. In that case, the recommended workaround is to create a new item with the desired valuation method.
How to change the valuation method
1. Go to the Item List
Navigate to your Item List and select one or more items whose valuation method you want to change.
2. Open Bulk Edit
Click the Bulk button, or select Edit from the actions menu.
3. Select "Change Valuation Method"
In the Bulk Edit dialog, choose the Change Valuation Method option and select your desired valuation method from the dropdown.
4. Apply the Update
Click Update All to save the changes.
If the update is successful for all selected items, you will see a success message.
If any selected item cannot be updated, the system shows an error and none of the selected items are changed.
Limitations
You cannot change the valuation method of an item if:
The item has a non-zero quantity on hand
You have an active inventory accounting integration
If you're blocked by one of these, create a new item with the correct valuation method instead.
