Job Status Permissions Are Now Enforced in the Job Actions Menu

BuildOps now applies the Change Job Status permission to the three-dot actions menu on the job. This keeps job status actions—such as Job Done and Reopen—consistent with the permissions configured for each user’s role.

What’s changing

Previously, a user who could edit a job could change its status from the three-dot menu, even when their role did not include the Change Job Status permission. The menu now checks that permission before allowing status changes.

  • Users with Change Job Status permission can continue using the menu as usual.

  • Users without the permission will see the status actions, but they will be unavailable and marked with a tooltip explaining that permission is required.

  • No existing permissions were automatically added or removed as part of this update.

How to give a user access

A company admin can update the role assigned to the affected user:

  1. Go to Settings > Roles & Permissions.

  2. Select the user’s role.

  3. Under Service and Maintenance > Jobs, turn on Change Job Status.

  4. Save the role.

  5. Refresh BuildOps.

Turning on this permission gives access to every user assigned to that role. To grant access to only a few users, create a separate role with Change Job Status enabled and assign those users to it.

Who is affected?

This update affects users whose roles do not include Change Job Status. If a user previously changed job statuses through the three-dot menu but can no longer do so, an admin should review the user’s role permissions.
