An After Hours schedule allows technicians to self-dispatch for Jobs & Visits that fall outside regular business hours. When After Hours schedules are configured, the mobile user has the ability to create Jobs and/or Visits directly from the Mobile App.
Depending on your company’s workflow, you may be required to create both a Job & Visit, or to create only a Visit. To update these permissions, reach out to your Customer Success Manager. After Hours schedules are created in BuildOps web.
How To Create a Job & Visit During After Hours
Follow these steps to create both a Job & Visit in the Mobile App. In some cases, the Job may not have been created for the work that needs to be done. In order to create a Visit, a Job needs to be created first.
Sign into the Mobile App.
Tap the blue + symbol (bottom right corner).
Tap New Job + Visit.
Fill in the data fields to create a New Job:
Customer* - select the Customer. If the Customer is unknown, select a Property first. The Customer will fill in automatically according to what Property is selected.
Property* - start typing the address to select the Property.
Job Type - select a Job Type (i.e., T & M).
Issue Description - add a description of the work that needs to be done.
Indicates a required field.
Fill in the details for Visit #1:
Department* - choose a Department (this can be updated later in the office).
Primary Technician* - choose yourself as the Primary Technician.
Extra Technicians - leave this field blank unless another technician will be working with you.
Date* - tap to choose a date.
Start Time* - tap to choose a start time.
Minimum Duration (in Hours)* - estimate how many hours the Visit will take.
Work Description - copy and paste the Issue Description, or add additional information as needed.
Tap SAVE.
The new Visit will appear on the My Visits Screen. Tap to open it and complete the Visit Report.
How To Create a Visit During After Hours
Tap the blue + symbol (bottom right corner).
Tap Visit.
Select Job* - add the Job Number. Start typing and select an option from the drop-down.
New Visit - fill in the required data fields:
Department* - choose a Department.
Primary Technician* - choose yourself as the Primary Technician.
Extra Technicians - leave this field blank.
Date* - tap to choose a date.
Start Time* - tap to choose a start time.
Minimum Duration (in Hours)* - estimate how many hours the Visit will take.
Work Description - add a description of the work to be performed on the Visit.
Tap SAVE.
The new Visit will appear on the My Visits Screen. Tap to open it and complete the Visit Report.
How To Create A New Customer and Property During After Hours
To create a new Customer during after hours:
Tap the blue + symbol (bottom right corner).
Tap New Job + Visit.
Tap + Add New Customer.
Add the Customer Name (required).
To add optional fields, tap Show Optional Fields and fill in the data. This information can be added/edited on BuildOps web.

To create a new Property during after hours:
Select a Customer (will already be selected if you just created a Property).
Tap + Add New Property.
Input New Property Info:
Customer will automatically populate.
Property Name (required).

Tap SAVE.
FAQs
What is the protocol if a technician needs additional help during an After Hours Visit?
Tell the additional Technician the Job Number. They can add an After Hours Visit to the existing Job. The second Technician will:
Tap the blue plus symbol → tap Visit → add the Job Number → add their name to the Primary Technician field → add required information → tap SAVE.
This will create an additional Visit that holds all records of the work performed by the second Technician.
Note: The secondary Technician must also be added to the after-hours schedule.
What are After Hours settings used for?
After Hours settings allow technicians to self-dispatch jobs and visits outside of regular business hours.What if we forget to create the After Hours Visit?
You can only make an after-hours visit for the same day. A user cannot create a Visit for past days.
Can After Hours enforce a set end time for technicians?
No. The system does not currently support enforcing a strict end-of-day cutoff for technician work.
